Walking on Sunshine is THIS WEEKEND September 19

The sun will shine this Sunday as the Mary Cariola Community comes together for our largest fundraiser, Walking on Sunshine. There's still time to FUNDRAISE / DONATE as we raise much-needed funds for our 480 students and residents in our school and residential programs.

If you have already registered, you can pick up your Walk T-shirts on Thursday, September 16 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Look for signs leading to our tent in the Highland Park gravel parking lot facing South Avenue, across from the Elmwood Campus North entrance.

Join us at Penfield’s Veterans Memorial Park, 3100 Atlantic Avenue, or walk virtually and tag us on social media to be part of our photo contest! For more event details visit MARYCARIOLA.ORG/WALK.

Thank You Corporate Partners

Mary Cariola is proud to be partners with two stellar Rochester companies, Rochester Clinical Research and Comprehensive Dermatology of Rochester.

Rochester Clinical Research (RCR) has been proudly conducting clinical research studies in Rochester, New York, and the five surrounding counties for over two decades. They are constantly growing their volunteer database and have completed over 700 studies. RCR is an industry leader working every day toward medical advancements that change people’s lives.

Dr. Manasi Ladrigan founded Comprehensive Dermatology of Rochester in 2012. As the parent of a child with multiple medical conditions, she established the practice with a focus on enhancing the patient experience, especially for those with special needs. There is minimal waiting for an appointment, patients get the time they need with the provider to have their concerns heard, and interactions with the staff are positive and helpful.
At Mary Cariola, we have traditionally asked our corporate friends for various levels of support each time we have a fundraising event. We are now offering the opportunity to enhance these relationships through a true partnership that provides ongoing promotions and marketing opportunities that benefit both parties throughout the year. It is truly a win-win relationship, and we thank Rochester Clinical Research and Comprehensive Dermatology of Rochester for being our first year-long Corporate Partners!

Welcome Back Students!

Mary Cariola Center welcomed back students to five days/week learning on September 8. Our Elmwood, East Henrietta and new Cariola on East campuses were filled with happy reunions between students, staff and classmates.  Our school year begins with about 368 students in our School Age program and 68 young learners in Preschool. We expect additional enrollment in the next few weeks.

Much thought and planning has resulted in a safe and welcoming environment for the start of the new school year.  As the new year opens, our teachers and clinicians are focused on meeting each student’s individual goals and on enhanced safety guidelines,” said School Superintendent Christine Sheffer. “Because we have many students who cannot tolerate mask wearing, we continue to use instructional spaces in ways that maximize social distancing between students. This is a challenge, but our entire school team has worked diligently to make sure sound instruction can happen in the safest possible ways. Our entire team is excited to welcome students back!”

Caring for a Cause Golf Tournament

It is safe to say that when siblings Sharon Haney and Mike Haney started the Caring for a Cause Golf Classic to benefit Mary Cariola Center, they had no idea how successful and popular this event would become.

Now in its 7th year, the golfers hitting the green donated a lot of green for Mary Cariola at this year’s tournament. A record-setting 41 teams raised a record-setting $43,275 in net proceeds. A morning flight was added for the additional golfers.

“We are beyond grateful to Sharon and Mike and we continue to be amazed by their organizational skills and enthusiasm they inject into this tournament,” said Agency President Karen Zandi. “The golfers, volunteers and community supporters have certainly made a significant impact on our students and residents over the years.”

Remarkably, the tournament has raised over $181,000 since its inception!

Special thanks to CFAC Major Sponsors Christine “Ma” Haney, Christine M. Haney, Silk O’Loughlin’s Restaurant, Progressive Machine & Design and ConvergeOne.
